"Fancy Don't Mean Good"
Ramen being my religion, I'll take one for the team in most cases. I'll literally try visit every ramen shop in any town I'm in so that I can tell my friends where to go when they have limited time. Doing so I walked the 6 blocks to try this raved about ramen restaurant on Sukhumvit.
The interiors gave me the creeps. Too many posh folk. I chose a seat at the counter so I had less visible humans in line. I ordered their Shio Special which didn't come with an egg, 40 Baht extra on top of an already extremely expensive bowl of soup. I waited.
Look, it wasn't bad. But it just felt antiseptic. Clinical. The kind of food that is perhaps cooked to perfect temperatures but not given any love or attention. I ate it, I sighed. I paid, I left. I'll never return.
It is what it is. Let the rich eat here, I'll go to Bankara or Wakyu.
These recommendations are just personal opinions based on my palate, things change, chefs get fired or replaced, places open-close, relocate, so take it all with a pinch of MSG and discover your own gems too. But please do try a few of these, they have been researched exhaustively.
